Dear Members,

2008 Japanese Festival, This Month 23th:
The 2008 Japanese festival is approaching fast, with less than a month remaining. The sale of advanced tickets will be available from 6th November, 2008. The festival is solely organized by the Hongkong Japanese Club and is taking place at the playground behind the Central Library, Causeway Bay. “Green Hong Kong” is the sub-theme this year. Apart from a series of performances; we have been preparing different kinds of activities for our audience participation. For example, Bon Odori, Japanese Drum Show and a short quiz about our environment protection will also be included. The variety of our activities will contribute to an enjoyable day for you, your family and friends. For details, please refer to our webpage. (http://www.hkjapaneseclub.org).

Price: $30 (Adult) and $20 (for each child under 15 yrs)

Free Gifts Donation for the 2008 Japanese Festival:
Green Hong Kong” being the sub-theme this year, awareness to reduction in refuse will be highlighted during the event. If you have any toys or stationery that can be recycled, we kindly ask you to donate it for this cause. New and old products from companies are also welcome. Thank you in advance for your support and for those who have already contributed some gifts. However, we have not received enough gifts so we kindly like to request your continued support.

Volunteers required for the 2008 Japanese Festival:
The Hongkong Japanese Club is now inviting volunteers for the 2008 Japanese Festival. We expect 400 staff to be working and standing by at the venue on that day. For the sake of ensuring a smooth operation of the festival, we would like to invite volunteer participation. Your assistance will be required from 10am to 10pm to assist in all aspects, such as managing the venue, serving participants, being ambassadors for the environmental protection section which includes short quizzes, information about this event and introducing exhibition boards. We also need helpers for the games section at night (including Yo-Yo, catching the goldfish and throwing rings). If you are interested in being a volunteer to support this event, please contact Ms. Nakajima or Ms. Michelle of our office.

Yukata on sale (with fitting section):
The Yukatas have arrived from Japan and will be sold on 6th November, 2008. Fitting will also be held on that day. After 8th November, 2008, we would arrange another time slot for the selling and fitting the Yukata. Meanwhile, we will arrange 3 time slots in order to ensure you get your favorite style. However we would like to encourage you to join the first selling and fitting section if possible to ensure you get your favorite Yukata. For detail information, please refer to enclose paper.

New Menu has been launched in our Club House:
Since 4th October 2008 (Sat), we have introduced new dishes to our menu. The latest menu consists of specially designed sets that have been published in our Magazine HK. Based on the feedback received from our members, the most popular items are - 1st place is Chirashi set HK$180, 2nd Sukiyaki set and 3rd is Miso Udo in October. We commit ourselves in providing more alternatives for your dining satisfaction. Therefore, please come and try our new dishes as we sincerely look forward to serving you.

New Year Dish:
We have mentioned about the New Year Dish in our October News. We have now prepared your favorite food, HK$1,500 for 2-3 persons HK$700 for a single person. Also attached is the order form for placing your orders. Please place your orders at your earliest convenience.

Club special event corner:
We have scheduled our Christmas Party on 13th December (Sat). For more details please refer to our attachment.

We have collaborated with Langham Place Hotel, Kowloon in offering our members a special discount since September 2008. The New agreement is below: Period: 1st November till 28th February 2009
